Snow Doubt!

< Back to blog index

Man I haven’t been snow boarding for ages!

I’m gonna have to find some fake snow and get some practice in. I’m not very good but I really enjoy it!

Learning to snowboard is a really interesting experience though. There’s only a couple of things really that you need to learn, the first few involve going down the slope side ways then when you can turn it’s time to point yourself straight down the slope, ah yeah.

Problem is when you’re going down you need to lean forward to keep control, the problem with that is your first reaction when you’re picking up an alarming amount of speed is to lean backwards and before you know it you’ve got a face full of snow.

If you’re gonna pull off what you’re attempting you have to trust in what your instructor has told you, you have to trust in what you’re stood on and you have to go for it with confidence.

Don’t worry I’m getting to the God bit now…it’s the same in the spiritual. If you’re gonna pull off what God has put in your heart you need to

1.    Trust the one that told you to attempt it. If God is your instructor He has set you up for success so keep going and don’t panic even if you seem to picking up an alarming amount of speed and you feel out of control, God knows what He is doing.

2.    Trust in what you’re stood on. If you’re stood on truth and the Word of God, the Word will hold you, believe in it, lean into it dig in. I remember when we had to go into hospital for Shirl to have Bella. I hate hospitals, they make me feel sick and faint but I didn’t want to have that while I was trying to stay strong for my wife so in the days before, I pulled out some scriptures about overcoming fear and boy did I press in and I stood firm.

3.    Go for it with confidence, if we’re gonna see a change in our communities, schools, worship teams etc. we need some people who are gonna feel the fear and do it anyway cos what’s on the other side is something awesome.

Hope that means something to you, I think what I’m trying to say is if you feel like giving up, if it seems too scary, if you’re beginning to doubt… keep going!

Bless ya,

Jock
