RPM Update - May 2009
< Back to blog index
Hey just thought I'd take this opportunity to give you a quick update
on RPM!
We've just come back from an amazing weekend on the road, we played
at 3 totally different events starting with playing on the Friday
night at the 21st Century Church conference in Wales. From there we
went to play at Balinger Rock Festival, going on stage at midnight is
always fun (especially when you got up at 5am!) and from there we
went to Lakeside Church in a beautiful part of Germany, right on the
Swiss boarder.
We got to try some new songs, we had a lot of fun but as always our
greatest joy as a team was to see people connecting with God. I love
the fact that we're not under any pressure to perform we just have to
get on stage and worship and hopefully in our freedom we can
encourage, inspire and lead people into God's presence.
It's also fantastic to know that if we're out on the road that the
rest of RPM are doing a great job leading worship across our 3 Friday
night youth ministries. We've spent a lot of time over the last 6
months especially, investing in the next generation and now with a
team of 50 amazing young people we can be really confident with
what's happening on a Friday night. Those of you who have been around
a while or those who have ever heard me talk about how RPM began will
know that it didn't start here. We were so bad when we started, we
could barely hold a song together but we were determined to give
young people in our city an opportunity to meet with God in a fresh
and relevant way.
We're about 8 years into the process now and we still have our
challenges but I just want to encourage any of you who are involved
in a youth worship team. Hang on in there, with God at the centre I
fully believe that with a heart for the local church combined with
faithfulness, vision and time, something awesome can grow. You might
be frustrated with where you're at now but seriously just enjoy the
journey and keep going. You never know what could happen, we've had
some amazing worshippers and musicians grow out of our youth ministry
and others God has brought to us from all round the world. So keep
going! young people are crying out for worship music that they can be
proud of, that inspires them and that meets them where they're at.
The challenge is there and the more people that pick it up the
better!!!!!
We're in the planning stages for Rocknations now too. We've got some
new songs lined up for ya which I'm sure you're gonna love!
Also we're relaunching the RPM myspace, new look, new content so
that's all coming your way! There's an EXCLUSIVE live demo of sound
of praise on there to so check it out.
I'll leave you with some pictures from our weekend if you're
interested and here's the link to the RPM myspace
bye for now,
Jock
